This term we had Life Ed with Bernie and Harold. We learnt about pubertey and how our body works.
I really enjoyed going to see Harold and I can't wait to see them again next year.

Forensic Science

Last term we did forensic science with Constable Neil and we went to a crime scene and I lifted my first fingerprint.

My Speach

Last term we did speeches and my speech was on the Wilson Center.
The Wilson Center is a rehabilitation center that helps you get back home after you have had a operation or had a accident.

My Komodo Dragon Reprt

 The Komodo Dragon

I would like to introduce you to the komodo dragon.

Appearance

The komodo dragon is one of the biggest lizards

on earth. They have big flat heads with big nostrils

and skin that can camouflage into their habitat.

Their huge tail can crush anything around them.

Diet

The komodo dragon is a big eat eater. They like to

eat things like deer, pigs and other dead animals.

Sometimes they even eat humans and themselves, or

they eat carcasses lying on the ground that another animal

 has killed. They also let the largest male eat first.

Lifespan

The komodo dragon can live up to 30 years

or sometimes more in the wild. They are an endangered species                                                           species. There are only a couple of thousand left in the world because lots of people keep killing them.

Life cycle

When the komodo dragon is born they start a completely different

colour and as they grow older they become a solid grey. The female lays her eggs

in a hole. She lays up to 30 eggs in one litter. Their breeding season is from April until July.When the babies hatch they are 34cm long. The young komodo dragons live in trees until theycan look after themselves.    

Habitat

The komodo dragons live in the Lesser Sunda Islands. It is

very volcanic and it is a tropical savanna.

At night they sleep in burrows in the ground.

Special Features

The komodo dragon belongs to the Varanus komodoensis family. They have strong mouth muscles to help swallow big pieces of meat. They can run up to 18 km/hr to catch their prey. They also use their  forked tongues to help smell. Their saliva contains large amounts of bacteria that can kill a  animal within 24 hours.
